On main page [Where to?/Map], hold the top RH corner [battery symbol] for several seconds, then press 'Next' [lower RH cnr] 9 times > 'Start Test' > 'More', the 3rd entry down is System and the second set of numbers is the system sw version.'
In GarminDevice.xml, the numbers in between <SoftwareVersion>xxx</SoftwareVersion> is the sw version.
