    Does anyone know how to check the Name/Number of the GPS chipset without opening Nuvi ?
    Maybe we are dealing with 2 or more different GPS Chipsets.
    This could explain why some 37xx>34xx create different GPS filesets.
    This could also bring to light that perhaps some 37xx are suitable for conversion and some are not.
    I believe that Caty's 37xx>34xx is creating the same files as real 34xx.
    My real 3490 says in System/About GPS Firmware 2.28.12
    Hardware Version V7 2GB 036 DS TC GTL

    It's a real 3790T transformed to 34XX.

    Why 2.28.12? Do all converts have GPS fw 3.04.03? , do you guys think this is significant?

    My other 3790 (original, never converted) has GPS fw 2.60 with Software Version 5.00.

    Can you send me GPS folder from your original nuvi 3790 (never converted) and from 37xx -->34xx nuvi?
    Maybe i found difference or FW version.
