For me always 8 - 12 meters of accuracy. Any differents from my files. After i copy inside GPS directory, do i must do clear NON VOL or single test for erase all old satellites in elevation secret menu....??
Yes, it is the same with me, but overall behaviour of the unit is much better. And on clear sky and standing in one place - really 3 m.
@Giomen
I dont know anything anymore.
On some nuvi better accuracy with this file on others don't, on some better accuracy with rxn folder and in other not.
Some 37xx to 34xx have 3m all the time after converting but other have 15m+ accuracy.
I realy don't understand anything anymore and i give up for now![]()
Kudos to rfb, giuseppe66, Angelo and all others prepared to take the time testing their units.
Loly,
Do you want me to convert my newer virgin 3790 to see how it performs? I would have done that already but thought maybe there is a need to have an original 'never-coverted' 37 as a reference. My convert is an earlier produced unit, whereas my 3790 is of later production. There is over 14,000 difference in the S/No of these units, so assuming that the S/Nos are not allocated in 'blocks' to different factories, one is amoung the first 2000 production units and the other amoung the later 15-16,000. There seems to be some loose anecdotal link between acceptable accuracy in earlier units, and unacceptable in later ones, maybe? If you want me to switch them around, let me know and i'll do it and test further. But really, i think the evidence is mounting that only a fw fix will help those with unacceptable accuracy.

I agree that quality of signal is more important than quantity of sats locked on. This is logical when you put it in terms of basic map reading. Better to have 3 very accurate back-bearings to prominent features than 6 highly inaccurate ones. The 'triangle of error' will always be more accurate and less confusing with the fewer accurate readings, whether it is obtained by compass or GPS device. My convert 34 never manages the same number of sat locks or quality of signal as my 37, but it's still way better in lock, quality and accuracy than you 2 guys have.
Are you and anyone else able to confirm that your units are of earlier or later production? Then we can compare accuracy with age of unit.
My converted early unit's sticker has:
nuvi 3790 1W800xxxx (in single line, without 'S/N:' in front of 9 digit/letter serial)
and my later original one has in 2 lines:
nuvi 3790
S/N: 1W80xxxxx
