    Loly, smokefree has a 2xx5. It's the 2013 2xx7 devices which have the RWFS which is written as 1:/ and the microSD as 2:/. The 2012 range 2xx5 definitely still has the path 1:/ for the card.

    @smokefree
    Try another microSD. Format it freshly first before adding the Garmin/Updater/1371 folders and also remake ldr.bin. A hard reset or clear NV of the unit would also be advisable before you try again. My 2455 and 2595 both HWID 1371 have no problems writing regions to the card.

    This initially appeared to be working (SOFTWARE LOADING / LOADER message, green progress bar and reboot) but did not give me a 41.bin file in the root of the microSD and it resulted in a corrupted update.log file (unreadable).

    Used another microSD, cleared NV and tried again (using 1:/). All symptoms look fine, this time I even do have 41.bin in the root, but the update.log file is still corrupt.

    Edit:
    The 41.bin file on the microSD also seems corrupt as I am unable to copy it from microSD to the HDD of the PC. Will try a third microSD and try again but will not be home until 8 hours from now. Could it be the nüvi 2545 does not write the files properly onto memory card?

    I'm glad I found this post!
    I just tried to back up region 41 for my 2557LMT (2013 device), with

    rrgn,41,1:/41.bin. no backup.
    After I changed the number to 2, 41.bin was created

    Also you must have backup for this case too:
    rrgn,41,1:/41.bin
    But this would be located on RWFS drive but not SD. I think you can find it there (in RWFS) even now.

    I just enabled "Show RWFS In Mass Storage" and saw 41.bin file on the device root folder mounted on another drive on a PC. The backup was created the first time I tried rrgn,41,1:/41.bin, but I didn't know that.
    Thanks!

    Red text will put in context the practical use of writing regions to RWFS:

    Seeing it's not possible to do a region backup to RWFS without using a card to execute Update.txt, it's really not all that important to be able to use 1:/ in 2013> devices. What's really of great import is their use of 2:/ to write to the card just the same way back as it was for the very first nuvi series 3xx and then 6xx [although we didn't have a clue about using those SD commands back then and rgn41 is protected/dumps empty in them anyway]. What's old is new again.
