Ensure you have US/EU model 3590 with HWID 1258: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Ensure your US/EU 3590 has latest firmware Version 8.50 (connect to GarminExpress and update if it has a lower version)
EXTRACT the Flash Kit ZIP file directly to a CLEAN microSD card (look behind Spoiler below)
Ensure your device is fully OFF, not just in standby mode
Insert the card
Power on (if the battery is low, connect to an external power source [NOT a computer USB port] which will power it on)
"Loader"/"Software Loading" or similar message should appear on screen during start-up
Wait for it to finish the flash and re-boot itself, then remove the card.

"Apps" screen should now have Media Player and Video Player icons. Keep the files from the card in a safe place. In the card root you should now additionally have '41_BUP.bin' and '140_BUP.bin'which are copies of your device's non-vol and features regions. In the 1258 folder there will also be a new file named 'last_id.bin' which must be removed before re-using the files or it will prevent further flashings.

Most links are still down, so I have some quesions.
My unit Nuvi 2455LMT. B1371-00 8.30 PCB105-01925-02 TZMap 37.00
1 Does this still work in 2024,almost 2025?
2.After these changes will garmin still update fw and maps without any problem?
3.Where can I find the original firmware for this unit?
4. Mainly I'd like the asr to work, will the asr files and xml download to the unit after updating?
Thank you very much
1. Yes
2. If you know how, why not? Or if you pay. What changes?
3. Garmin site, [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], or googling
4. I don't know the device's capabilities by heart. Information is probably easy to find on the internet or Garmin website

Many questions become very arduous, a lot of time chewed deja vu...Since we have lost all the year of work and effort, many people have no will to answer the same questions again. Me neither. Use a search, please.
Thank you for the fw link. I believe I have the correct file.
As for my question number 2, Was wondering if after adding features, would Garmin firmware update remove them, if applied?
I have not opened the unit yet but was curious if there were even a microphone to be able to use the ASR? Garmin Manual covers 24xx and 25xx and quotes "Voice Command is not available on all
models, or for all languages and regions."
@hightimes
The changes are being made to the device's region 140 which isn't a firmware region, it's a function-control region. All 24x5 devices with HWID 1371 use exactly the same firmware and apart from containing a "boot.bin" (really the ramloader), it only has the main system software, fw_all.bin, which is written to region 14 (hex: 0x0E). So, any changes to 140 (0x8C) won't be undone by a future fw update.
Regarding its potential to use ASR voice control: The 2455 is a 'junior' model. Because it doesn't have ASR or Bluetooth capabilities listed in its specs, it's unlikely to have a microphone factory-installed:
That doesn't mean that it won't have a microphone socket or solder pads on the board for one because Garmin will usually use the same PCB for all models in a series. Therefore, you may be able to add a mike to any 2xx5 device as can be done in 37x0 series, see [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Note that you may then be effectively converting the 2455 to a 2495 and thereby cause TMC functions to disappear (see prominent warning in initial post of this thread). I don't think it's ever been determined exactly why 2495 loses traffic reception when region 140 is modified.

Thanks Neil, that clears things up a bit. Seems it would not be worth the effort to add a physical mic and then lose or have issues with the built in tmc.
Yes, i agree. It wouldn't make any sense to potentially swap TMC function for voice control. However, it doesn't have "built in tmc", it uses an external traffic receiver in the bundled changing cable, from memory North American 2455LMT comes with either GTM36 or GTM26 (both FM) but l'd think GTM60 (HD Radio and FM) is compatible too.
