Did you lose Pedestrian mode etc as reported [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]? Also do you have you any problems with search?

Yeah. You lose pedestrian mode. But it add truck mode. (automobile, bicycle, truck). No problems with search. The mp3 is working perfectly. And I was able to add routes. And all my voices are working. The only problem I had was with the text folder. The gps wont work with the texts I have so I deleted that folder and its perfectly now.

But thin conversion can kill tour device. It is very dangerous! This device is not fully compatible with 1490.

What you mean with KIll. Are you saying that the gps could "die" because of the firmware. Dude its not 1490, its 1480. And the models 1300 and 1480 have basically the same hardware. Except for the tv and bluetooth module. You have to give me a good reason why do you belive the gps could die because of the conversion. Otherwise I'll not believe in you. I'm using the gps right now and its working perfectly. Fully tested and working. I'll make a long trip with the unit tomorrow and when I come back I'll make a video of the gps and post here.

In particular, this firmware can always leave your device without a sound, although this effect was not observed in all revisions of hardware. And many device die after flashing back to normal firmware.

Well, I don't know what to say to you. But one thing I know: I'm not experiencing any problems with my unit. I did a long trip yesterday (800 miles) and had no problems with speed tracing routes or recalculating or even listening mp3 files(since I don't have a radio in my car). The route function worked properly and I was able to use the routes previously saved using basecamp.

More. Before I had sucess with this firmware I did test a lot of other ones in my unit (1490lmt, 1490, 1480 korean, 1480 jp pure, and many others with the gps showing the message "missing system files"), and I was able all the time to flash back to my original firmware with no problems at all.

The problem is that your device is not stateless, it has a lot of places which store information, and which you can't directly access. And if one firmware ****s up something so that the other misbehaves, you will end up with one wrong bit among megabytes of configuration data. This isn't just my dream, I've seen some 13xx devices creating cr acked up GarminDevice.xml after flashing an asian firmware, and NV cleaning not helping (There is something that does help, but then you loose your UnitID and some other values).
Btw, have you backed up your NV memory?

I'm not an expert. But the major problem associated with convertions is software corruption. I didn't changed everything in my unit. The boot is still 5.8 the same that came with the unit. My maps are original Brazil NT 2012. The only part of the firmware changed was the one that controls the functions. The original functions are still available with some new adictions like the mp3 or route. Other functions like bluetooth and tv are based on the files in the text folder. If you keep that folder the gps will try to boot the bluetooth and the tv module and will try to control the gps warm time when it search for the sats. Because of that your unit will not work. A GPS unit is basically a computer with rom ram and a processor. The information can not be stored permanently in all the chips. Most of the information available in the memorys is erased everytime you turn off your gps unit. + If you wait time enough the batery will loose the charge and you will safely flash your unit. I know I can't flash a unit right before use. Its like turn of your computer when the windows is updating: the software could or cold not be corrupted. Its lucky based. Not a smart choice. But if you wait untill the batery discharge I assure you that the chances you brick your unit will be reduced drastically. It's not 100% safe but works.
