At work now so I can't download it but I'll try it when I get home. Thanks.
Unfortunately it didn't solve the problem. I put the files in my SD card, powered off the device by pushing the reset button (nothing else will turn it off), put in the SD card, and turned on the device. Nothing happened except the Garmin screen popped and nothing more. My attempts at a pre-boot are also unsuccessful.
Do you have a backup of the internal files? If so check in Garmin folder for the file GarminDevice.xml and look for the HWID 0851 [shown as: <PartNumber>006-BXXXX-00</PartNumber>]:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><Device xmlns="http://www.garmin.com/xmlschemas/GarminDevice/v2" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.garmin.com/xmlschemas/GarminDevice/v2 http://www.garmin.com/xmlschemas/GarminDevicev2.xsd"><Model><PartNumber>006-B0851-00</PartNumber><SoftwareVersion>760</SoftwareVersion><Description>nÞvi 255</Description></Model><Id>xxxxxxxxxx</Id><RegistrationCode>
If you have a different HWID then advise what it is. The HWID 0851 is for US/EU units with non-MTK chip.

I was unable to back up the files that were originally on the device. Or more accurately, I attempted to copy the files but every time I tried my computer got hung up and then I just got impatient and formatted the device. So I can't check that file. It is a US version though.
@steveor
Perhaps you have MTK [Mediatek] chip which is HWID1074.
@lolypop000
Is it worth him retrying your repair kit remade for MTK seeing the one made for 0851 didn't flash?

Looking at the circuit board indicates it is part number 105-01375-00 which I believe corresponds with the 0851 firmware.
