    @Castus
    Member janch gave you a thread link above, look at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] there for how to use SD for backup and re-write of region 16. Links for both methods are prominent at the top of first post there:

    Hi, I am trying to put my 2589lmt device to preboot mode to use updater.exe to flash firmware. Tried top left corner, above G, on G, on RM without success. Anyone have done it successfully? Thanks.

    First make sure the Garmin is turned off and not in standby mode.
    Then put your finger on Upper left corner and turn the Garmin on.

    Please help me to enter to preboot mode on Gamin Dezl 580

    I tried the way described but I can't succeed. Is there any special way ?

    Edit:

    Finally after more time access in preboot mode by entering into the hidden menu
    - by pressing and holding the battery symbol and then connecting the PC USB cable.

    As stated in note (1) behind first spoiler of initial post [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], that method works for some devices but only if they aren't bricked. Generally only some older series can use that way of accessing preboot and it's universally not possible in more recent devices.

    Additionally some older "special-use" series access preboot by holding the screen's LOWER left corner while powering on/connecting USB. I don't recall if dezl 580 is included in those however.
