Are you still referring to the recalibration of the electronic compass Sherms? As Angelo said that was supposed to have been fixed several versions back [V2.90 included this in fact: "Improved accuracy of compass calibration on eTrex 30 devices. A new manual compass calibration is required (Setup > Heading > Calibrate Compass)"].
But if you mean Garmin aren't interested at all in keeping etrex 20/30 updated, i don't necessarily agree. Older units have more 'mature' firmware and often don't need the constant updates or little bug-fixes to keep them running smoothly as do newer models and series. In a perfect world the final UAT fw would need no adjustment other than if the developers wanted to add features later. That's not the case of course, most are just little fixes. Looking at the history for 20/30 shows that most versions contained minor bug fixes rather than adding features, however, a day after 20x/30x got an update on 13th July 2015, 20/30 got Version 4.30 which included this "Improved 'Save Portion' track feature. When saving a portion, the device now remembers that position in the track log so it can be used as a track segment for future portion saving" along with a couple of bug-fixes. The 20x/30x change log for it's V2.10 is exactly the same for 20/30's V4.30. That's not coincidence and I'd say it's evidence of support rather than abandonment.

Depends what you mean by 'work' Maggy? I was referring to 'stability in use' rather than 'functions' when i said the firmware is more 'mature' in older units. And stop licking me!

I was really hoping that they would get the back-light working during boot up as it's not a silent boot which means it's nice to see what is loading.
The GUI improvements that could be done are vast and...
Maggy many of the older units had far better detailed GUI's which did not depend on a computer interface to manage and edit waypoints, et al.

Yep I know that M8 that's why I still have my old units but the oldest looses more lines of pixels every year but gets better with full batteries and warm weather "40c"![]()
