my pc sees the satnav when it is put into preboot mode.
i have the nuvi 1300, hwid 972
after formatting, i didnt put anything back, and also i think it might have been when i formatted in mac (msfat) that i messed it up.
when i formatted in windows, the satnav still worked but obviously didnt have maps, but after formatting in mac, it stopped working.
