Thank you again.
1) I removed my current gupdate.gcd (version 7.50) from my nuvi 205 and added this downloaded nuvi2x5_regionfileonly__510.gcd later I renamed it to gupdate.gcd on my nuvi.
2) Created backup of folder GPX.
3) Turned off my nuvi 205.
4) When I turned it on it did not displayed the message New Software found or that the software is older.
5) I checked the software version in my nuvi 205 and it still displays 7.50 instead of 5.10
Shall I do something else or change some of the steps I did? I'm wondering if the HWID 1074 of my nuvi 205 is not compatible with the GCD file that I downloaded
Go to "my computer" and into the device "Garmin" folder, delete the file "gupdate.gcd".
Edit your device.xlm in this line:
00</PartNumber><SoftwareVersion>XXX</SoftwareVersion><Description>nüvi
Put in it a previous version than the one you want to flash it to-
Add your desired version gupdate.gcd in nuvi ,disconnect nuvi from pc and restart it.
To check file HWID use
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
drag&drop the gupdate.gcd in it and it will display infos

Galaxy S5 Kitkat 4.4.2 / Nuvi1200->1250 / Nuvi3790T->34xx / Nuvi 2200 / Nuvi 66 / Oregon 600
Thank you catymag once more time! You have been very helpful.
Just for my best understanding. I also notice that file nuvi2x5_GCDFile__750.gcd is for HwID851 and the file nuvi2x5_GCDFile-MTK__750.gcd is for HwID1074 and file sizes are also different, i.e., 8.36 Mb and 9.29 Mb respectively.
So, I´m wondering if I change the HwID from 851 to 1074 using the RGN tool of nuvi2x5_regionfileonly__510.gcd for making it compatible with my device; Should I expect that it works regardless that the size of the corresponding original file (MKT version for ID1074) could be different?
Best Regards,
NO you'd brick your Nuvi.
You must use the right HWID file for your Nuvi

Thank you again! You help me again to avoid bricking my nuvi 205. From what I understand, nuvi2x5_regionfileonly__510.gcd HwID851 should not be converted to HwID 1074 regardless RNG tool allow to do it, i.e., I won't be able to downgrade my nuvi 205 because files listed in this post are for HwID 851 and then not compatible with HwID1074.

Thank you!
I was also able to download nuvi2x5_regionfileonly-MTK__610.gcd (HwID1074) from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] I was able to downgrade it to that version and it partially corrected issues with discontinous route line display during navigation. I was looking for a nuvi2x5_GCDFile-MTK__510.gcd or nuvi2x5_regionfileonly-MTK__510.gcd compatible with HwID because the original version when I registered my nuvi was 5.30.
Would you please suggest me a site where I could download version 5.30 or 5.10 (HwID1074)
Best Regards,
