How to get the needed firmware/software from the Garmin website

May say only what this ftp was not supported for actual moment!
2x5 is more newer device than 2xx and have absolutely different software. Occur in nature hybrid 2xx and 2x5 what have a name 2xx but it use software from 2x5 with his functional with some exception. This hybrid have ID for 2x5 series. But no 2x5 device with software for 2xx! Old king died - long lucky life for new king hence

I've made a small script to download the list of the latest available firmwares from Garmin.
Here's the the archive: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

The script uses Windows Scripting Host, so it will only run in Windows.
Currently, the script only checks the firmwares for the devices with the support of JNX maps, but this can be changed via GarminUpdateRequest.txt file, which simply lists the necessary part numbers.

I'm wondering why my etrex vista hcx Software version 3.40 GPS SW version 2.90 is not listed on Garmin site.

Not only 3.40 and so version 3.30 (GPS SW version 2.90 for MTK chipset is listed on Garmin)...
Garmin says in this case:
"Changes to support manufacturing."

But we have this versions due a dump by ddabcd277 with loader for 3.20 SW
