I have a Garmin Rino 650 that I updated before applying the patch. I am unable to find a previous GCD file of previous version (2.2 or 2.4) after several days of searching and an email to garmin. Patch will not work without reverting to prior version, then applying the most recent patched GCD. This is a new product and i think the 2.6 might be the 1st update to the software/firmware.
Any ideas on where to obtain the original firmware for the Garmin Rino 6xx series?

    joeyjojojr,

Please download [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], open the patched firmware in it, change the SW Version from 260 to 261, and then try to flash the modified firmware.

    Giomen,
I'll probably add this kind of function in the next release of the patcher.

Awesome! Just Awesome! That did the trick Whiter. Man, I had tried everything, or at least I thought I did. Interpreted webpages in 3 different languages, read page after page in forums, etc. Even read about the RGN tool at one point, but was in reference to accomplishing a different objective and didn't trust myself not to screw it and brick my Rino.
I really do appreciate all that's been done by the people here and elsewhere in helping others fully utilize what I feel is a crippled (purposefully) product by Garmin, at least from a software/firmware standpoint. Now I can custom map to my heart's content.
    Again, thank you so much.

So, does the patched firmware work in Rino 650?

Garmin 3.40 - patched without problems. Dowloaded 3.40 from Noeman forum. Patched it. Don"t know if it was needed - changed the software version to 3.41 in RGN tool. (after reboot displayed 3.40 patched) Changed firmware file name back to GUPDATE.gcd and copied to Garmin folder on the device. Went quick and without problems. Despite the fact I have upgraded to the same firmware version 3.40.
Now I have no JNX files to test. Can anybody send me to the good description of how to produce jnx from SAS planet?
Via maps2mapc it is simple - just save as, but I sow here in the topics it produces only one zoom level jnx - is it correct?
    thanks in advance

Firmware patcher is updated to 2.9.

This version adds the support of Etrex 20/30 firmwares.
Also an option to adjust the FW version number is added, which can be used if you'd like to flash the same version of the FW as installed in the device, but no other version is available for up or downgrade.

The patcher can be downloaded from the usual location: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

The patcher link is in post one, go to Whiter's page to see if Montana 650 latest sw. is supported: Probably yes but not yet tested ,if I remember well.
