You can then navigate on the laptop with Garmin XT attached via usb. this is proferable when we go off the tar in a group and we want to navigate as we go. The big screen will be so cool..

Have you installed last version? probably no, the last version corrects that issue I think, btw I'vent tested on 5800 yet, I'm waiting garmin multilanguage official version, the one posted is Taiwan version.
You can install Garmin directly on your lap, you'll find garmin for pc in navigation softwares section
