A more "compact"guide for Samsung Galaxy S5, rooted:
- Install the apk, don’t run!
- copy libgarminos.so to data/data/com.garmin.android.apps.gmobilext/lib and give permission rw- r—r—
- copy the libasusscreendict.so, libasusscreendictservice.so and libgmxt.so to system/lib/ and give permission rw- r—r—
- The ready Garmin folder (with maps, voice, poi, etc.) goes into the sdcard dir
- Structure:
o Root\sdcard\Garmin\Map (put any .img inside, names do not matter)
o Root\sdcard\Garmin\.System\JCV (put here JCV files, not tested!)
o Root\sdcard\Garmin\voice (.vpm formats only!)
o Root\sdcard\Garmin\.System\POI
o Root\sdcard\Garmin\.System\GPX
- to add “address” search in the “where to” menu: add shortcut (bottom of page), search
- battery indicator stays in red, didn't find a solution for that one, but I can live with it...

1st)with android 4.1.2 rooted sp 2.16 work fine

i cant install the apk I have always this message : application not installed
whats happen !! do you have a solution ??
Thanks
A short summary of the info I've read on sosaw's long thread:
(Of course it is for rooted phones only, because of the changes in .so permissions)
.img name must be gmapprom.img ,gmapsupp.img doesnt work.
The package originally posted in Chinese forum and shared here:
works on Android 4.4.4
doesnt work on Android 4.1.1/4.1.2/4.2.1/4.2.2
doesnt work on Samsung Note Android 4.3.3
doesnt work on Nexus 5 (4.4.4) Qualcomm CPU (but now see post#23)
It runs on Samsung S5
It runs on HTC M7 Unicom BNM 802w, change the map path to sdcard2, installation successful.
You have to navigate to get to the good.
Galaxy S5 Kitkat 4.4.2 / Nuvi1200->1250 / Nuvi3790T->34xx / Nuvi 2200 / Nuvi 66 / Oregon 600
No wonder, it crashes on my Nexus 5.
Will test Nexus 7 and Nexus 4.
Thanks Caty
Edith 1: Crash on Nexus 7, probably unsupported resolution, next test N4
