I have exactly the same experience with a Jailbroken iPhone 4 with 5.1.1. as does "Degmoura" in Post #161.

The Garmin StreetPilot App loads without any consequences to a blank screen with the chosen car navigation icon. Interestingly, if you use the "minus" key at the top of the screen to zoom out as far as is allowed - all of a sudden a satellite image of your country location is shown on the screen. This can only come from the "gmaptz.img" file that is also loaded into the ".system" directory with the "gmapprom.img" of your designated county.

As a second point - while doing this zoom out to see the "gmaptz" global image on the screen - if the iphone suddenly aquires the satellite fix there is a zoom in to your specific country/map loaction. At this stage the screen goes blank with the exception of the various navigation icons

The key question is why are the later 5.1.1 jailbroken iPhone4's affected by the inability of the StreetPilot App to also see and operate the "gmapprom.img" file in the same ".system" directory?

Sorry - for the error in my Post #175.

I mistakenly referred to the "gmaptz.img" file when I meant to refer to the basemap "gmapbmap.img" file that provided the temporary global image on my iPhone screen, before the satellite acquistion caused the screen to then go blank.

I do not understand this 2 note (post 72)
Step 4 : Use iFile to modify the /etc/hosts file (putting the 127.0.0.1 triplew.garmin.com and gold.garmin.com) & Save. Make sure you check the ownership.
Step 8 : Finally, make sure the gmapprom.img file has the correct ownership – i.e. Owner mobile, Group mobile, User read write execute, Group read execute, World read execute.

    Hi,

I successfully installed Garmin USA, but still I get "None found" when I put the maps. I am using unlocked .img canada map and NA .img map and both are unlocked and tested on garmin device. I use iFunbox to put the maps in "Raw File System/var/mobile/Applications/XYZXYZXYZ - some code/USA/storage-usa/.System", once done, I change the permissions as mobile-mobile, rwx, rx, rx and then close iFunbox. Run garmin v2.00.19 on iPhone 3GS and nothing in the maps! What am doing wrong?

    Please help.

I have got 2 of my iphones working with garmin onboard by following the tutorials on this thread, running on ios 4.3.3 and 5.0.1. It worked fine.

The 5.0.1 was updated to 5.1.1 and the 4.3.3 was restored to 5.1.1. Both now cannot detect maps.

I can confirm that ios 5.1.1 breaks how garmin detects the maps. Tried to put the unlocked maps into .System and sdcard/Garmin to no avail.

Maybe someone needs to go through the ios API and check the changes for file paths from <5.1.1 to 5.1.1? Or garmin uses its own way to find the files which clashes with ios 5.1.1 way?

Does anyone know how to turn on logging or debug for this app? Thx

    EDIT:
my mistake, the permission I applied did not go through through winscp. I think it timed out when the iphone goes to sleep.
after checking the permissions again, thanks to nebullussg for reminding me again.
    It works perfectly!
