Red face CityXplorer maps sale discontinued by Garmin

Probably cityXplorer maps dropped by Garmin

Recently Garmin hasn't updated cityXplorer maps.
New nuvis dont support them since 2013 models, no pedestrian mode support.
Now, for example, these maps links here:

    point nowhere.
I cant find any Garmin link to buy a cityXplorer map: no CX on Garmin official site anymore.

So don't buy CX maps gift cards, they have been dropped without any notice.

Who is guilty? NAVTEQ-NOKIA-HERE or GARMIN?
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?

What? Nobody saw this coming? No EPM for 2013> nuvis, so why would they keep selling them. I don't believe that they ever made any money from CX maps anyway. At only 10 bucks a pop and quite low volume, they couldn't have been a real money-spinner i think.

    RIP CX.

I am about it too. NAVTEQ-NOKIA-HERE is not welfare fund also. Plus-minus=??? 10 bucks for one town is not so bad too.
In any case EPM was good only how trip planner for last mile but not for really stand-alone navigation. Its using under condition of modern timetables is equal a trip around town with wheeler-dealer taxi driver when you would be taken to hotel in a couple of blocks from railways station.

CityXplorers could be a great maps for outdoor devices and for smartphones. Putting them exclusively for nuvi was a stupid idea. Nuvi isn't convenient for pedestrian mode, too heavy, too weak battery. Ok, Garmin noticed that too and reacted with its usual cleverness.

But maybe it is very pleasant to plan a stop with public transportation scheme in the car yet...
Timetables in most Europe are so tight that any such favours is useless without online service. As soon as I want to save money for payment parking I am going to WEB and after that usually I forget about this scrooge thoughts. It is too difficult for me, modern traffic It is better if I will be taken by car!

I have used the City Explorer with great success on a trip to Madrid, where it got me to the subways and bus perfectly. It does not do so well in NYC as the unit locks up with a run out of memory crash. In either case - you run out of battery before you can use it to return home. We used it to write down directions which were referred to later. Still - it is a great trip planning tool that is useable without internet service.

Not useful? Ask the Nokia users who use them for free in their smartphones.

Agree with Kanopus. It was very stupid from garmin to make CX maps exclusively for nuvis but not for the pedestrian (outdoor) devices. Pedestrian maps not compatible with the pedestrian devices. Genius decision!

I have Nokia but Garmin with usual map (not CX) and pedestrian mode in route settings is not so worse especially on Oregon. On Nokia I use other online services for Europe with live timetable of public transportations. It save time at several times but somewhat annoying me because I am an inveterate smoker and 30 second for jumping is not for me.

I have contacted with Iberian Garmin and they confirm to me that CityXplorer has been discontinued and removed from the web.
