have you Garmin XT Free Basemap and Garmin XT Support Files inside your garmin folder?

rename base map to gmapbmap.img and place in Garmin folder
(this is usually the World Base map and is usually not routable)
the other map must be renamed to gmapsupp.img and must be unlocked with gmapsupp.unl.

in a phone you can check that everything is working by opening GarminXT>Tools>Manage Maps....all maps should be showing
