    @horsebox,

    First this not the correct place to ask this question.

    I think it will be moved to the correct area later.

    OK It is all about how you want to use OSM maps.
    Been using them since 2007 they are great for off road,hiking, hunting and Geocaching.
    As for routable OSM maps have never tried them with Garmin.

    Plus you should use a garmin unit that is suitable for off road use.
    Most handheld Garmin's can be tethered to you so your hand are free.
    Not able to do that with a car GPS unit.
    Car GPS units do no have a good battery life and are not water proof.


    Again not enough details from a new user.
