A very interesting experiment.
Have v5.40 (2d or 3d) on nuvi 710 with or without additional cards is the same (may be it is necessary to disconnect a map of Russia, I don't had it).
Tap "Tools - Settings - Restore".
Tap "Where to? - Adress" and get the screen "Select City in: - empty string - Spell City" and so on.
Tap "Spell City" and see what address search is working !!!
But if we tap "Change Country" and select Беларусь we get the screen "Select City in: - Беларусь - Spell City" and so on and address search became broken.
In oder to get a working address search we must to restore settings again.
This was not with maps v5.30.

Thanks for the explanation, now makes sense but you saying '3d img works fine on my nuvi 760' made no sense to me as it seemed 3d img meant gmap3d.img and not the footprint in the detail map.

NOTE: The above attached file is named logo.bin. If you decide to use the SD pack in the 710 TTS thread linked above please note that the update.txt file refers to 16.bin, so either change logo.bin file name to 16.bin, or in Update.txt change 'xrgn,16,1:/16.bin' to 'xrgn,16,1:/logo.bin'. Thx to sbog for pointing that out to me by PM.

You can of course also flash it as i intended here, as an RGN file using Updater.exe in pre-boot mode. To make an rgn file combine logo.bin with boot.bin from 5.40 firmware using RGN_Tool. In that case name the file 075401000540.rgn and then the original naming of the source BIN files is quite immaterial.
