Update nuvi with Fw=4.90 up to FW=5.40 - address searching became broken.
Conclusion:
1. Something wrong with FW=5.40 on a nuvi 710.
However, with the same maps v 5.30 everything is good on Fw=4.90 and FW=5.40.
Conclusion:
2. Something wrong with maps and Pc installer v 5.40.
I used the maps both ready-made from various posts and manually-maded by MapSource and MapInstall.

Вut the question is:
What is the truth - first or second ?
Are the maps v 5.40 work correctly on old nuvi ?

P.S On nuvi 140, for example, the maps v 5.40 are good.

Try to physically disable City Navigator Russia Navicom (rename img extension to bak for example. May be the search index interference take place...

The latest version of City Navigator Russia Navicom are not friendly to old devices.

P.S. 3d img works fine on my nuvi 760 FW=5.40 without City Navigator Russia Navicom!

Maybe i'm misunderstanding that. Have you modded that 760 to use a 3D img file Giomen, or do you mean 765?

I did not say what I can see 3D but 2D footprint is perfect on screen So it was mentioned what I use gmapsupp.img with 3D footprint support (Dorogi Belarusi ver5.40 3D KartaBy.by) only and address search worked on this map. I did not test 2D version...

Thanks for the explanation, now makes sense but you saying '3d img works fine on my nuvi 760' made no sense to me as it seemed 3d img meant gmap3d.img and not the footprint in the detail map.

@victor777
I see you have 710. This is OT but if you want to enable TTS voices flash this modded logo:

Spoiler:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Checksum has been calculated so will show pass in inventory. More info: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

NOTE: The above attached file is named logo.bin. If you decide to use the SD pack in the 710 TTS thread linked above please note that the update.txt file refers to 16.bin, so either change logo.bin file name to 16.bin, or in Update.txt change 'xrgn,16,1:/16.bin' to 'xrgn,16,1:/logo.bin'. Thx to sbog for pointing that out to me by PM.

You can of course also flash it as i intended here, as an RGN file using Updater.exe in pre-boot mode. To make an rgn file combine logo.bin with boot.bin from 5.40 firmware using RGN_Tool. In that case name the file 075401000540.rgn and then the original naming of the source BIN files is quite immaterial.
