Thread: TOPO Sweden v4 PRO

Did an update to 0.8.186.801b of GMaptool. Followed catymags link in #40 and found that it was in fact a very simple operation.
Was successfully creating a TYP-ed map, that was accepted by both my GPSr and BaseCamp.
Looks like the pietu procedure (that I tried earlier), referenced here in post #4 of....:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
....is changing things that screws up BaseCamp. In my Oregon 600, it was operational.

I have found some details that maybe could/should be corrected in the 'White' TYP file. Some regional roads (#100-499) are shown in a very odd way. The 'Green' TYP file is perfectly OK, regarding this.

You can use any typ file if color is nice, there is not any support needed

just use brain as good give for you.....

I guess that some knowledge is needed when it comes to creating/modifying a TYP file. At present, I don't know a thing about that.

There are many ways to work when "TYP-ing".
When I get my hands on a map that I want to modify this is my way to work:

- Open the "active" TYP file in the map folder with TYPViewer. (backups made of course)
- Open the map in Mapsource (BaseCamp is slow and has nothing that I need in this case)
- Find out the details that you are not satisfied with and try to find them in TYPViewer. Modify at your taste.
- Close Mapsource (if TYP file is used by Mapsource it can not be overwritten by TYPViewer)
- Save TYP file with same name.
- Open Mapsource and press ctrl-G TWICE to clear cache and look at the result, modify again and repeat cycle.

- When you feel that you have done the job, transfer one tile to your gps and see what shows there. Mapsource/BaseCamp is one thing, your gps another unfortunately..

And to not be too much OT ; I found that the polyline "BARRIER" (or VÄGBOM i swedish) is made in a silly way. It is made as a 32 px long polyline and when zooming out it disapears for me. Better to remove the bitmap attribute and make a "normal" polyline. Works for me.

Thanks to rolfa's sharp eyes some improvements have been made to the typ files.
One road type was totally wrong in the white version and the barriers are modified for better readabilty when zooming out and som other minor details.

Thank you for your answer. I downloaded the locked file and tried both on windows and OS X, and it seems they booth did their thing.
But, still get a message that the maps are locked.
