You can install an .img using Gmaptool, but you wont have address search enabled.

I'm on Mac OS X so most of that software doesn't work. For example I'm not even aware of a patched version of BaseCamp. What does being patched add?

You can split map for Mapsource (and Basecamp) with Mac version of Gmaptool.
You can create a virtual sd on Mac (read the whole linked thread)
Patched BC can allow you to unlock maps with Jetmouse kg even if they have fid greater than 2200.
Between an img unlocker (gimgunlock) version for Mac is available on forum.
You can check section Indices and sticky threads for all these infos.

I need some help
I was with the previus 2014.30 version of the unlocked map (south america + JCV ) on a MTK 1200 units 6.20 ... working fine the JCV
Now, removed the files, and put the new 2014.40 map, and jcv - without the 3d map ... but everything i pass in a place or even in simulate where jcv should work, gps crash and restart.
Why ?? what should i do ?!!?
