    Sorted, i think the problem was at my end! i have now transferred the sd card the files were on and using winrar on a windows based pc it all seems to extract fine!! ta for all the help guys!

    Default A tip for newbies!

    So I just cost myself 2 hours of scratching my head and searching the web...

    I have a trip to Europe coming up and thought it would be useful to have CN Europe on it.

    I'm not a complete n00b, I've (successfully) used my wee gadget before, copying the files I needed onto the SD...

    However this time, I had to buy a new SD card because the biggest I had was 2GB - and when it simply didn't work (new maps didn't show up on the device) was when the head scratching started...

    So the very simple and quick tip is - don't do what I did and dump the file in the root of your new SD card - REMEMBER the blasted naming conventions for your maps (in a directory called Garmin) and you'll save yourself a load of time...

    I won't pretend I remembered by myself - here's a link to the naming conventions for those whose memories are similarly afflicted.

    Hi Roger,

    I have downloaded a map you have [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], but there seems to be a problem. There are just empty spaces instead of Capitals on a map (Riga, Vilnius, Tallin). Could you tell me what the problem it might be?

    I unlocked it with unl file as I normally do. I am using Garmin Mobile XT for navigation and Garmin Mobile PC to view/check maps.
    Map of Latvia from this [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (separate countries) doesn't have this issue. Strange indeed

    Umh...no,sorry. The file UNL not works with the FID >2200

    Use the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]


    EDIT: my test in GarminMobilePC and works charme

    Unfortunately It stayed the same, blank Capitals on a map. What I did was I downloaded map you [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] again, unlocked it with the tool you posted above.
    I am also using locked map of UK and Ireland which you posted few weeks ago, I unlocked it with UNL file and it works just fine.

    I probably found a cause of it.
    I downloaded Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia maps from this [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and compared them with your map.
    It seems you forgot to mark small areas on a map there the Capitals are. I have attached some pics.
