    Defragmentation and optimization is not good for often use on Flash Drive like Nuvi and other device. At most case these activities have a zero effect. But you can try its if your Nuvi drive looks like New Year confetti on the holiday table. The best way to do backup, clear memory and then put it back on Nuvi even without format. It is refresh allocation table and sometimes is more speedy than defragmentation and optimization.
    In any case then the data is storage as solid piece it is very good for any system stability and data recovery. I am old school specialist and my teachers said to me if you divide data on many piece and hide it in many place nobody can easy recover it.
    Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?

    Apart from the detail map [obviously], you can use these files from Post #1:

    3D building/landmarks map - gmap3d.img

    Junction View file - High resolution split screen JCV D3048140A.JCV

    G2S file - D2925140A.G2S

    Your 3790 also uses ASR'1' files which are available in Post #43 or #44. This note is also in Post #1: Nuvi 23xx_37xx ASR1 files in post #43/44.

    If your unit is not performing properly, update firmware if necessary and hard reset it anyway. Back up your data before resetting it.

    Hello guys,

    pls, what are the *.GMA files, what are installed to:
    \Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\Maps
    by MapUpdater application when updating CityNavigatorEurope?

    Are they related too to map unlocking as UnlockCodes.ucx file in same directory?

    I am asking because MapUpdater and Express application both failed to install CNEU2014-40 (Express succeded to install "to device" (unlocked IMG files and everything other), but failed to install "to PC" (MapSource item).

    I have used archived PC-install (MSI) from here (THANKS), then I logged to my.garmin.com and got unlock code (so I have working IMG in device and working GMAP in PC MapSource), but this update didn't added that mentioned GMA file between the others:

    07db3518-8870-4d67-b848-1801e494b0b8.gma
    44c36aaf-71dc-4f89-adc6-7e8d4d763d07.gma
    8611e7d4-2314-4713-8197-150bb8a75ba7.gma
    90059c0c-8d7e-4e1f-a87f-056d20e2a0e7.gma
    a6d40fed-6bfa-446d-b06f-5a9549686e4e.gma
    fac28136-550d-4293-8c07-57f6c96eec4a.gma

    (Each one GMA file was added after one CNEU official update by MapUpdater).

    So, here I am asking for purpose of this file...

    Thanks for answering the beginner question.

    Hello,
    should I upload the .sid files of the 34xx on my nuvi 2455?
    Are these files necessary to use instasearch?

    You can easily check it looking at you Nuvi files or at Garmindevice.xml file in your device in Garmin folder.
    You should have all flles listing and paths.
    Older files names begin with the same digits.New ones increase by 10 per version.

    @jimmy
    I have downloaded the map from this topic and I'm asking if the .sid files from the first post are compatible or if they are useless with the nuvi 2455.

    @Roger
    Where did you get this log from? This is for the 2015.10 map version but if it's correct I should download the .sid files from the first post and use them with the 2014.40 map.

    Thank you.

    @ioannis0
    Your question was answered by jimmy and yes, your 2455 does use *.sid files. As said, look to the unit's GarminDevice.xml found in Garmin folder. The previous map version files would be -10, -20, -30 etc depending on the version, 2014.30, 2014.20, 2014.10 etc. The next [and current] would be +10 for 2015.10 i.e. D3427120A.sid; D3176140A.sid;D3175140A.sid and D3414130A.sid. The files are maps version specific so need to be changed when you update the map.

    Files are stored in .System/SID folder and are for traffic trends ,instaSearch , instaAdresses & POIs and FastRouting. More info: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

    2015.10 was released a couple of weeks back, but we've previously neglected to close this thread. If further discussion is necessary please post in the new map thread: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
