No it's not neccessary. Maybe 3223chai thinks he needs US/EU etc JCV files patched for an Asian unit to use them.

hi to all
i was trying to install the City Navigator Philippines NT 2013.40 after i accept agreement the i click next this came up cant find the unlock record. my unit bought in usa but will use in philippines.
Hi All! Is there any newer map for Philippines NT 2013.40?
TIA!!!
Unless you have a PH bought unit qualified to instal this map you should not run the exe to instal. Simply extract 1340_Type1824209.exe using WinRar or similar and then look in the folder named MapData for the image file gmapprom.img. Unlock it with [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] or [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

@odelacruz
Best practice is to not have more than one map enabled covering the same area at any time regardless or conflicts result. If your comment is meaning that the JCV file for this CN PH does not work using with only Roadguide PH enabled then of course it won't, as each jcv file is specific to the map even as to version of the same series.

It's a general recommendation to not use 2 or more maps enabled for the same area, they may cause conflicts; and I already seen these conflicts occur (the road may appear duplicated)
However, I can identify these conflicts because I know well the area were Im driving; if I were in an unknown road, sure Im not turn on 2 maps. Modern devices may calculate the rote by maps turned off, and I dont see motivation to not seek this advice.
Best regards!
