This numbers seems the answer is the MapMyIndia is better in coverage… But I never been on India; so, one with experience must answer this question!

Both are good and neither is perfect! In some areas Navteq is better, in other areas MMI. But generally MMI is the better option. The 7.1 vs 10.3 million is not really applicable here as the MMI version available here is 7.1 not 8.0, which had around the same number of POI as seen in Caty's post. If you can download and try both, you'll be able to see which works best in your particular region.
