If your problem is you're unable to see the *.img in BaseCamp read this:
When you create an image file from a PC instal/gmap folder the 'MS flag' is automatically set to '1' in it. The image can then be seen and used by the device, but not by BaseCamp when the device/card is connected to PC. For the image to be also seen by both BC and the device you must reset the flag to '0' [zero]. Easiest way is to use ImgTool or GMapTool, probably a little simpler to do with [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], just a couple of mouse clicks:
