Yes, Garmin has tried with recent fw to make 1xxx series compatible with NTU but it's not a happy marriage unfortunately. Just use NT maps with 1xxx.

I'm using firmware 5.10, because I believe it is the most stable.
And the more recent firmware are not better it.

The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.

Quite right. V5.10 fw will give some search problems and there is no proper support for Cyrillic. As VitusOld is from Russia, a fw upgrade will only help and not at all hinder the operation of his 1410. The only real (but acceptable) problem will then be with the 'faded' / 'washed-out' appearance of the JCViews which was ably and well reported elsewhere by roger1109. Not a problem for dasilvarsa using the african map without JCV of course. Simple answer is if you don't need or use cyrillic and you don't want fuzzy jcv then just use NT, not NTU, in 1xxx series.

Dear, there is only one reason stay on firmware 5.10 it is using JCV for old version of Roads of Russia. This version (5.10) of firmware is very not stable on new maps. It is known bags like freezing of map screen, traffic data and so on. I no doubt what you do hard reset every couple of days. Many (not all) of next released version of firmware work fairly well despite minor bugs with traffic and others. But version 6.10 was released in July 2012 and it seems that the device was replaced with another much better. Especially this is noticeable on non-optimal Russian map from Navicom which have a lot of irregular and non-standard polygons. Never fear to test new software and you will be surprised. Sometimes![]()
