I downloaded the MapSource version from what is now called post #12. I extracted the RAR files, placed the .gmap folder in %APPDATA%\GARMIN\Maps on C: drive and unlocked using JetMouse with Checksum Fix. This is how I proceeded with all previous maps without any hassle. However, when now trying to install the full size map on an SD card, MapInstall 4.0.1.0 (patched) hangs at the following screen (tried twice, each time same result):
Plenty of space on C: drive from which MapInstall runs. After 5 hours still same screen. What am I doing wrong?

For most units, using the JM unlock method will still result in the generated image being not authenticated because of the GMA protection, but i'm sure you know that (that info is for others). Try one or more of these methods:
1. Run [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] in the gmap folder to fully unlock it.
2. Or if you want to generate an 'unauthenticated' image just unlock the .tdb file using one of the methods in Posts 1 & 2 of this thread: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
3. Or, you could try sending an image from your JM unlocked gmap folder with patched MapSource.
4. Maybe there is a problem with your MapInstall, you could try again with the patched exe from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
Finally, this is also a great tool, it is based on unlock mapset.exe ([Only registered and activated users can see links. ]) for gmap folders: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].Last edited by Neil; 26th October 2012 at 04:46 AM. Reason: Add 'Finally, ....'

Thanks for your quick response. Indeed I am aware the method described will result in an .img file which still has GMA restrictions. It's just my way of creating a locked .img file via MapSource / MapInstall and then unlocking it at the speed of sound with gimgunlock.
The problem encountered seems to be caused by MapInstall rather than the map itself. I will work through your suggestions and report back with my findings.
