@Neil
Although I think that the above is good advice, I would also like to clarify that NT Maps do work perfectly with the 3490 as well.(if you can get the correct subfiles of course.)
I've just recently bought a 3490LMT here in South Africa and the Preloaded Map is CNSA2013.30 NT not NTU.

The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.
Albert Einstein.
As I know CNSA NTU doesnt exist. But the default preloaded CNEU map on 3xxx 2xxx and 30/40/50 is CNEU NTU, you cant get NT by Mapudater, like you cant get NTU on 1XXX and old model by Mapupdater till now.
Patch new Mapinstall as suggested by Neil
You have to navigate to get to the good.
Galaxy S5 Kitkat 4.4.2 / Nuvi1200->1250 / Nuvi3790T->34xx / Nuvi 2200 / Nuvi 66 / Oregon 600

Agree with that 100%, NT will work just as well as an NTU in all those units I quoted not just 34xx. In AU all those models have NT with all the other associated files as standard. No NTU for AU (not enough Cyrillic users here), but now there is Pan-Africa NTU, who knows, maybe there'll be NTU here and in America too soon. In this case it was about getting Alexis_ a working JCV file, and also tying in with the advice given by Giomen as he wanted SID files as well.
Thanks for the clarification though, it's a valid point.

I ran MapInstall a third time earlier today to again try to create an .img file of the whole of Europe. This time destination not the SD card but one of the hard drives. It took over 6 hours to complete successfully, but at least it did. Not sure if it would eventually have completed sending it to the SD card (as tried before) if I had given it enough time. But sure, 6 hours is not normal. In any case I will update MapInstall to the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] which apparently comes bundled with this latest MapSource version of CNE.

It would be awful if newest device do not read a not-Unicode maps! But as you know we lack in the case of using a not-Unicode version a some features! Garmin especially understrike this features as a huge advantage in model of 2012. Let's not to hurt the old man
At least I know two examples of such offenders. The first, fisherman uses a 3590 on snowmobile only with the oldest converted version of marine chart and he loves this device for the big screen and function "off" after a preset time. The second, dogman uses a 3490 with a tracker function only for communication with his dog GSM collar and he uses the old version of NT map principally (it seems that the new or another version is not as accurate).
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?
