You can preserve the old one if you manually put the map bundle.
Just right click on .exe file.

Many thanks for your prompt reply and comment. I may have made a wrong assumption in that I am not able to upgrade the older version with this newer version (exe) file
in the garmin device as I don't have life map support . If I could install into the device and I would gladly do so as I have no reason to keep the old one.But what I did was as was stated by you to right click on the exe file and then unlock it by an unlocker prog .I then transfer manually to a sd . I was able to do that and on booting up the newer version is noted there . But below it show a faint image Map 1 and 2.( I am not able to see or touch map 1 and 2) That is why I asked earlier on that if I just leave the old version in the device but instead use the newer version on the sd whether it will give rise to problem next time. I don't want to go manually to delete the old version in the device as I am afraid to mess it up.
But now it seems that I could directly install it into the device (yet to try) then I will not use the sd route although I find the sd route to be easier.
Any comment will be appreciated.
