Sure, you can delete/overwrite/rename it if you want and put another map in as gmapprom, just check the link i gave before. But better not to put anything 'unofficial' in your unit's memory in my opinion, not only coz of what i stated before.
POI's should show when you get a sat. fix in the US. If you want to try now in Brazil, turn off GPS in settings then choose 'set location' for somewhere in US. That may work with 205 i think.
PS: If you mess around with your internal stuff, take a full backup first of course.
