TRY this:
Remove all your old jcvs and all old Maps (backup first) So you have only 1 map and 1 jcv
Save your Favourites and hard reset.

Your Splash looks good don't worry about fail.
Your nuvi is seeing the jcv in the Inventory (should work)
I'm using CN 2012.40 NT Spain + Portugal with the same jcv that you are using on nuvi 1300 and it works fine.
Maybe corrupt map or jcv ?? Don't give up it, there has to be a solution !

cmflorea, if dasilvarsa's above post(# 71) doesn't help test the archive(s) of the map and JCV files to make sure they're good.

If you fine one bad set(map or jcv) I'd re-download all the corresponding files.

Secondly, if the archive(s) test good, I'd re-copy them to the device and attempt again. It could very well have been, after knowing the archives tested good, that it was simply due to a possible transference glitch happened when first copied over. Like the file system hadn't properly finished writing before you unplugged it from the usb/computer.

I have downloaded the individual country unlocked IMG files and tried to join them (to make my own <2gb compilation of just the countries I need) using GMAPTOOL.
I have done this with CN2012.20 in the past and it worked just fine.

However with the 2012.40 individual country unlocked IMG files, the output file after joining is faulty and gives the error 'Wrong FAT for subfile 00002563MDR' in GMAPTOOL.

Any ideas what the problem might be - or should I not even be trying this..

Cant join City Navigators map with GmapTool, download Mapsource version and choose the tiles you want.

In assuming these 8 files were from links in a post here, and not gotten via torrents, which post number in this thread were these 8 files downloaded from?

Also, I would re-download the 8th file again and retry extraction.

To download multipart files use Jdownloader to avoid files downloads corruption

FYI, I just downloaded the 8 files in kor@l's post number 2 here under "C. N. EUROPE NT 2012.40 FULL IMG UNLOCKED (2.39GB)" and all worked fine.
