As far as I know, there are 4 different maps available for Singapore/Malaysia:-

    1. City Navigator NT 2011.xx
    2. Malsingmaps NT 2011.xx from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    3. MSM 2012 v5.xx from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    4. MFM map from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Good summary. Just a few minor corrections.

Map 1 is named "City Navigator Singapore/Malaysia NT 2011.xx" today.

I believe MalSingMaps got/licensed the MPC map compiler from Garmin in exchange of their map data. As a result, MalSingMaps can make their own maps in NT format with more features, instead of the OF format with cGPSmapper. Therefore, map 3 is named "MSM 2012 NT v5.xx" today. On the other hand, MFM had tried to get a similar deal with Garmin but was unsuccessful.

The 5th map containing Singapore and Malaysia is "City Navigator Southeastern Asia NT vx.x", also commercial.

    Thanks for the corrections!

I believe the 5th map, City Navigator SEA (I thought it was Southeast Asia not Southern) NT is not as updated as the specific City Navigator Singapore/Malaysia map. But the advantage of course is that it covers all the SEA countries, or most of it. But I seem to recall that for some coutries like Indonesia, it only covers certain cities.

I still do not know the answer to my original question, which is why the files for City Navigator map for Singapore/Malaysia is more than twice the Malsingmaps NT 2011 map with similar features. Could be due to any reason but I would like to know the actual reason so that I can decide which map to use. Personally, I would much prefer to use the most updated MSM 2012 map but unfortunately, there is no junction view yet. So, lack the cool factor!

Please double check. I said "Southeastern", as spelled inside the map data.

I do see a small product.JCV file, about 983K, in MSM NT v5.35 downloaded from some post on Noeman. But I have not tested how useful it is.

It's just a sample file for KL. See this post and preceding posts here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. MSM NT v5.37 & 5.38 have a similar sample file of 961KB. Need lotsa time to find 'em in simulation or a couple of tanks of dinosaur juice to find 'em in the live, unless there's some info on their site to say where they are. Can't be very many views at under 1MB file size, even in low res. Maybe they will do a full file soon?
