The TopoLusitania map doesn’t show many paths on Madeira (and also not on Portugal itself). I’ve been looking for Topo maps of Madeira that could be used for walking and found the following maps very useful:
    (Download the Portugal map):

Both maps are routable. They seem to contain very similar information, but I find the mapping of the Freizeitkarte clearer than that of the Openfietsmap.

They are free, so I hope that posting links here is OK.

Freizeitkarte offers several typ files in case you want to change the 'look and feel' of the map. I prefer the 'contrast' typ file both in Mapsource/Basecamp and on my Oregon 600.

Use JaVaWa GMTK (or GMapTool) to change the typ file in an installed map and JaVaWa TYPchanger to change a typ file inside an img.

    Hy Mapperoni,
I've tried to change Some OSM-Freizeikarte-maps with Freizeikarte .typ file,
    ---------------------------
using either Javawa TypeChanger or GMpapTool. No way. With gMapTool I can change the type on OSM maps with other .type files. The Freizeikarte .typ files are very light too regarding the other ones I used. What's the trick ?
    ---------------------------
Javawa GMTK, cannot handle drivers neither sd cards no way
    ----------------------------
Found out their "replaceType" zip : no way with this recommanded script
    I:\Garmin\gmt -j -o I:\Garmin\Italy_OSM_Topo+2015contrast.img I:\Garmin\Italy_OSM_Topo+2015-Copie.img I:\Garmin\contrast.TYP

    Hi
It seeems that Topolusitania team is mapping for the openstreetmap project. That could explain why for the time being no new Topolusitania version is available.

In Topolusitania blog there is a warning for some big errors that the Contour Lines from SRTM have in Madeira Island, creating summits higher than Pico do Areeiro
