I must've done something wrong when installing this map. Can someone please clarify?

I had an old gmapprom.img on my garmin nuvi 255 that I was using. I just changed the extension to gmapprom.imgOLD and added the English version of this map in it's place (unlocked and all). Now, whenever I start up my nuvi it freezes, not stops at the loading screen (can't power the unit off). I tried connecting it to my PC and it freezes almost right away as well so I can't access the files on the garmin. I then went into preboot mode with teh calibration and sometimes it freezes...others not. When it doesnt, I can navigate through the map of hong kong, but I don't think the GPS is connected to a satellite.

Any idea what has happened? This map should be loading fine but it's like it has pretty much bricked my GPS unit!!
