Sim, I have had success with GPSMAP62S as mentioned in my post no 46 above. I have also updated the unit to the latest firmware to enable Garmin Spanner to work the unit with Memory map. I have had it working by using th unit ID and now using the SD card CID. I assume you must be doing most of it correctly to be able to get error message. I read somewhere that people were accidentally adding an extra digit to the unlock code or an odd space. Perhaps if you post your unit ID here or PM me with it I can generate an unlock code and see if that works for you.
I have only tried copying image to SD card and not unit itself.

I have a 550T for which I bought GB Discoverer 1:50K ........... and then got another 550 (non T) ... (we both geocache) .. copied the GMAPSUPP.IMG to a new 4G Miscro SDHC and built a new GMAPSUPP.UNL for second GPS using unit ID and Garmin_kgen_1.5+Fix.exe worked perfectly .. thanks

    Hi Ocicat,

Didn't spot you had a 62s even though I've read this thread over and over - D'oh

Sure would appreciate the help in generating a valid unlock code to put in my gmapsupp.unl file as none of mine work.

Here is the typical output from the 25 digit code checker - InfoUC_x32_v2.10.exe....

    ---------------------------------------------
UNLOCK KEY : #####-#####-#####-#####-##### - removed in case it contravenes something!!!
    ---------------------------------------------
    KEY IS VALID: YES

Unit ID : ########## - removed in case Garmin frequent these forums
    Family ID : 803
    Product ID : 1
    Region ID : 0
    Vendor ID : 0
    Date expire : never
    Product name: Garmin Mobile XT
    ---------------------------------------------

As soon as my post count is 5 i'll PM you my unit number

    Cheers, Sim

    @simspos

The key you have generated are the one for "SW.UNL" in Garmin Mobil XT. That key is only to unlock GMXT in a mobile phone, nothing to do with a Garmin GPS unit. This field will always be fixed to MapID 803 and either PID 1 for Garmin Mobile XT or PID 3 for Garmin Mobile PC.

Use the second field at the bottom in the keygen and the generate button there. That's there you get the code for the "Select Map Product" and your MapID, PID, RgnID & VenID parameters.

    Hi Ballibar,

You diagnosed my mistake correctly - boy do I feel stupid, never even noticed that the two generate buttons obviously did different things.

    All up and working now.

    ---------------------------------------------
    UNLOCK KEY : #####-#####-#####-#####-#####
    ---------------------------------------------
    KEY IS VALID: YES

    Unit ID : ###########
    Family ID : 2043
    Product ID : 1
    Region ID : 0
    Vendor ID : 0
    Date expire : never
Product name: Garmin GB Discoverer 1:50K Northern England & Midlands
    ---------------------------------------------

    Cheers, Sim

PS: Big thanks to Ocicat for the offer of help - obviously not needed now.

Sim, I suppose it did sort of help, as it prompted you to post more info, which Ballebar then diagnosed your error for you.

    Glad you got it sorted
