If map is not working with version 5.00.60 than problem is map, or just with archiving program used to unpack archive.
Do not unpack RAR and ZIP files with 7-zip, use WinRar or WinZip.
Ok, so why Southern Africa map for use on the GARMIN C320 will be locked out of my program interface? map to an SD card, open GPS, is stuck in the State of the progress bar

Sorry, I'm reading this 10th time, but I'm not sure what are you trying to say.
I understand that this map (Southern Africa) is locking your Garmin C320
If it is so, problem is in map (again)
Try to download again and unpack with WinRar or WinZip as I told you before

I have also installed mapsourse and I'm not sure what to do with it either.

    Thanks.
OK -- first --to have a map in Mapsource you must have Mapsource installed
    so install it
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    patch it
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
put the map folder in C:\Garmin
open mapsetoolkit and following the posted pic fill the tags
    then click install.
after that open mapsource and you'll have the unlocked map installed and you'll be able to transfer it where you want

Have you the maps unlocked in mapsource?
Garmin Mobile PC is not using maps installed in MapSource, but needs gmapsupp.img like any other Garmin device or Garmin XT, so You have to export them from MapSource, menu Transfer -> Send To Device... and choose Garmin Mobile PC as output device.

You have to navigate to get to the good.

    Thanks catymag

Got it working, and was able to create an img file too.

In future, how do I unlock the maps myself and get them to the point where I can just use mapsetoolkit to add them to mapsource?

    Thanks again!

wow, the East Africa 1.1 is much better than the 1.0 version. Now i know, that there are fuel stations in Tabora (Tanzania). Hope they have fuel as well. This, i will know for sure in August.

For the rest of Southern Africa, please check the Tracks4Africa maps. They have additional useful information (road conditions, POI's), even if they are quite old (2008).

I have a garmin nuvi 200. If I have the unlocked version of streetmaps IMG, Do i simply place it on an sd into my device? I have no sd to try, Can i just drop it in the garmin folder inside my device? Or do i still need to use a program? If so, under what name?

Unlocked IMG must be renamed gmapsupp.img and placed in sd in a Garmin folder, usually one for sd ,but it depends on devices-- that's all

The unlocked maps worked well in my Garmin 1390T but I could not get them into Mapsource. I tried with the locked maps and it worked, I have no idea why, I am new to this
