There in no free space in my Nuvi 255w for this .img file. Have deleted all files I don' t use, but still no space available. I have a SD card (2Gb) and tried to use it, but it's also small to take the .img file(1,95Gb).
My question is : do I need to buy a 4Gb SD card? I have been told that Nuvis 255w can't read 4Gb SD cards. Is that correct ?

I recently bought a 4gb mini-sd card for my nuvi 205 and it works excellent for me with this map.So i guess that the same goes for 255 as well...

I'm pretty sure you don't need complete Europe on your navigating device, so why don't you get MapSource version and export to your device just as much it could accept and part which you really need, and if your needs will change some day, export different part again?

This is strange joanim. I was able to load the image that was posted on Post #51, to a 2 GB SD card. Just a plain Kingston card. The Image is 1.84GB and the card had space for 1.88GB. Are you sure that your SD card is OK?
Some fake cards are known to give less capacity than normal.

Simon, I downloaded the .img file from Post 1 and it's size is 1,95GB not 1,84GB. Don't know why the difference between Posts 1 and 51.

The previous version of CNEUNT (2010.30c) had an unlocked image size I think of 1.76GB. So I find more reasonable for the image to have grown to 1.84GB rather than 1.95GB. Maybe something went wrong during the extraction of the files. I always use winrar. Other than that, only more experienced guys than me, could probably give an answer. Maybe one of the moderators?

Did you try unlocked IMG from first post?
There is no difference in navigation map, only file that changed since first release is gmap3d.img.
When I select complete EU map in MapSource it gives me size of 1898.2 MB = 1.8537 GB, so it anyway too big for your card.

Advice:
Get MapSource version, unlock it using this guide

transfer almost complete EU map to your device (just omit some small parts you will never need) and map will fit.
If you did it in first place it would be over long time ago.

Or buy new SD card - 4GB
