I have purchased the device 3 months ago and have not (intentionally) updated firmware since then. Actually, I don't even know how to do that, or how to tell which firmware I have...
Could you please kindly point me to the related guides? (How to tell the firmware version? How to update firmware? What's the GMA file method? etc.) Many thanks!
if you have an unlocked img you dont need a gmapsupp.unl -try to delete it-
if it's locked send it to C: Garmin and try to unlock it with this before copying to your device

To determine your current installed Software and GPS Software Versions go to Main Menu->Setup->About... You should see a screen that looks like this which will display both your Software and GPS Software version number.

You have to navigate to get to the good.
Galaxy S5 Kitkat 4.4.2 / Nuvi1200->1250 / Nuvi3790T->34xx / Nuvi 2200 / Nuvi 66 / Oregon 600
Thanks!
It seems that I have Software version 3.40 and GPS software version 3.70
Does this mean I need the GMA file method? (Which is what?)
First I have tried without gmapsupp.unl file, just the img file sent to the device from MS. - Didn't work. Then I tried with .nlu file - same results.
Fast IMG Unlocker worked - now I can use the img on the device! :-) Thank you!!!
Still... it bothers me why all other maps transferred from MS to the device work perfectly and this one does not. Do you have any ideas? It would be great not to have to worry about unlocking all img files one by one...
GMA file is a digital certificate bound copy of a license tying your device to your map , this means you need a GMA file to unlock the product.
GMA file if present ,should be in the system folder on the device and in C:\Users\adm\AppData\Roaming\GARMIN\Maps
and has a .gma suffix, you could regenerate it by logging in at my.garmin.com, finding out the product code of your map-
The Oregon new firmware checks for this unlocking certificate
You shell have to use fast unlockeror use mapsource gmap versions unlocked

Are these really unlocked? What's gmaptool?
Hi, I have an Oregon 450t and I would like to have the MapSource version of City Navigator. I read this complete thread, but I am confused about the different possibilities. Should I Download the MapSource version in post 1 (3,086 GB)? Or the MapSource version in post 13 (1,62 GB; i don't understand how to install)? I don't need timezones, nor speech recognition, but 3d could be interesting. I know how tot unlock with patched MS and mousejet. Which link would you advise?
Is somewhere a thread GPS for dummies with explanation of items like gmapsupp, gmapprom, img, iso etc? thanks!
You can install this map in mapsource in two ways :
downloading the gmap folder and placing it in the right folder(follow instructions in the post) light installation
or download the full mapsource installation and unlock it with jetmouse kg
in both cases but you must have a newer Mapsource version -
to unlock ,in the second case , your mapsource must be patched

Hi everyone!
At first, sorry about my English. It's not my native language.
I'm looking for some new maps for my Kennwood KNA-G520 and I saw this forum.
I must say: I'm thrilled about things which I can read here. But, I need some help.
When I download the maps which I want to have (e.g. post No. 157, where pietu ist writing about the particular maps for Europe, etc.) what do I have to do, to bring the maps into my device?
I can only load the maps into my KNA-G520 (which is fitted with garmin maps) over a SD-Card.
Could someone explain it to me (STEP by STEP, please) what do I have to do?
And, the last question:
After I have download the maps, are they allreade unlocked?
Thank you so much for your help!
