Garmap Southern Africa Streetmaps TMC 2010.1 (March 2010)

Garmap Southern Africa Streetmaps 2010.1 includes the routable tar and gravel road network detail for Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe and its selected cities and towns.

Product Benefits
The seamless routing between the different countries allows you to accurately plan and navigate to destinations within the Southern Africa region. Search capabilities on a comprehensive list of Points of Interest (POI) such as service stations, banks, businesses etc and street addresses (street addresses only currently available for South Africa) allow you to quickly find and route to your destination.

The MapSource software allows for the management and transfer of map, track, route and way-point information which can be used on your PC or loaded on to your GPS.

Either unrar with WinRar or if this doesn't work, just double click, wait until it asks for a Garmin Device and then exit. You find the Installation program then in C:\Garmap

Please note, even East Africa Streetmaps is still labeled as V1, but its dated January 19, 2010. Same with Westafrica maps

Thanks for the West Africa link fix.

I was trying to download the full exe from garmapftp.co.za but it was coming in very slowly (10kb/sec). Found these alternative links using Google:

SAStreetmaps2010.1.exe 248MB [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

SATopoRec2010.1.exe 958MB no alternative found

westafrica.exe 108MB [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

EastAfricaStreetmapsV1.exe 89MB [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

MauritiusV1.1.exe 70MB [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

- Did it this way as I have only 2 posts and so cannot post urls

unlocked img file are much more compact!

Download worked great - thanks a million for making the maps available.

Unfortunately have a problem now - Cannot install e.g. the new Westafrica into Mapsource. Setup does insist for internet connection, guides me through a Garmap questionaire and asks for 20digit Garmap code.
Would be very grateful for any support on how to get maps installed - unlocking with Jetmouse KG would not be the problem.

hi there,

do not open the .exe file by clickin it. right click dan extract the files using winrar to desktop. you will then see many folders. go into the maps one and install from there.

For Egypt and Sudan, i'd recommend the Tracks4Africa-map (v 8.10, good quality outside cities, limited city details), from the Garmin maps index:

And for Egypt, there are some more maps in the map index (Middle East & Africa index).

Other sources for maps:

- Open Street Maps (OSM), e.g. at
...p://garmin.na1400.info/routable.php
Usually good quality in big cities; bad quality outside these cities.

- Garmin mapcenter:
...p://mapcenter2.cgpsmapper.com
Sometimes good, but often only playground.

I do not know any other maps or map-sources for these countries. There are also no official Garmin maps or other commercial maps available. Same for Libya and Algeria: only maps from OSM or mapcenter available.
