How does one do a search for a city in mexico? For example, puerto vallarta. Having difficulties finding any cities in Mexico by doing a search. The only way I can find a city is by locating it on the map. When I try to do a city search, puerto vallarta or any other Mexico city does not show up in the search. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I am sorry for sounding like a noob but I am just really worried that I will brick my GPS. I have a Garmin nuvi 255w and want to update it to newer maps (it has maps 2010.10 right now) but I do not want to have to keep an SD card in it if I can avoid it. I would be fine installing via SD card if that is needed but would prefer to not need to keep the SD card in the GPS.

Which files should I download to do this the easiest way, and how would I go about doing it? Thanks very much in advance for your help.

    1. Download IMG unlocked (3 parts) and unpack with WinRar or WinZip (not 7zip)
    2. On your nuvi find Garmin folder and locate file gmapsupp.img (or gmapprom.img)
    3. Backup file (copy to PC)
    4. Rename file from downloaded rar same as original file (gmapsupp.img or gmapprom.img)
    5. Overwrite old file on device with new file

    That's all

sorry Caty jcv DOES work on 255w with Malaysian/Singapore hardware..Not sure about Taiwanese one..
but JCV folder can be placed on SD card in garmin folder, or JCV file dropped into the unit's JCV folder .
