    1. Attach your phone with the USB
    2. Open Mapsource
    3. Select the "route tool" (icon of three squares connected with lines)
    4. Create a short route by right-click on a location and choose "Begin route"
    5. Then choose another location by right-click and choose "Add to route"
    6. Highlight the route in the panel on the left side of map
    7. Go to the Transfer menu and choose Send to device
    8. Unless you've selected any maps, tracks or waypoints the only option should be "Routes"
    9. Click send and you're done.

This is a worthless way of creating routes in devices
Any settings in the mapsource software (average speeds, road preference etc) will be discarded upon transfer to the device.
You do need to have your routable map installed to do routing. The basemap does not support it.

@iffis76, you may also transfer your routes and favorites between garmin pc and xt via a "current.gpx" file (without mapsource). on PC, this file is in the " #:\Documents and Settings\<YOUR_USERNAME>\Application Data\Garmin\GarminMobilePC\gpx\" folder. it's renewed automatically upon closing the garminpc (if routes, points etc. were added/changed). to transfer pc routes to phone you copy pc's "current.gpx" to "#:\garmin\gpx\". then open garminxt - <tools> <manage my data> <manage (left soft key)> <import gpx>. that's it! to transfer from phone, you have to <export gpx> (same menu) first, i.e. update "current.gpx" manually.

I have a Nuvi 650 that has the North America map loaded on the GPS and one other map loaded on the SD card. How do I load another gmapsupp.img map on the SD if I'm using a mac??

Most of (all) Garmin nuvi devices do not accept second map file on SD card, so only two solutions:

    1. Transfer both maps in one file from PC (MapSource/MapInstall) or Mac (RoadTrip/MapInlstall), or
    2. Join maps in one file with Gmaptool ([Only registered and activated users can see links. ]) on PC system and copy to SD card

    Default Garmin edge 705

Yesterday I bougt Garmin Edge 705 and i was wondering ,should I buy
-SANDISK SECURE DIGITAL SDHC 4GB EXTREME III
-SANDISK SECURE DIGITAL SDHC 8GB EXTREME III

So would be buying 8GB SD a waist of money because of the limitations(4GB) with filesystem(FAT32) or not? And one more thing anybody here tried 16GB SDHC or more (because in the firmware version 2.9 it says supported 4GB, 8GB, etc.- that means no limit.) But if I buy 8GB SD is it possible to have simultaneously more maps installed on garmin.
    THANKS

    Hi tico_x00,

    Post moved in appropriate thread

As your device is trainer-navigator, I hope you will not walk (run) or ride your bicycle so far away that you will need maps that will not fit on 4 GB.
Yes, you can put multiple maps on SD card of any Garmin device, but best way is not to put them as multiple files, but combined with MapSorce and transferred as one file to device (SD card), because many devices (not all) supports multiple files on device but only one file per SD card. I'm not familiar with your device, so I'm not sure.
As I can see, you're from Slovenia. Complete CN Europe + complete Adria Route 3.00 is about 2 GB, complete Adria Topo 2.2x is 395 MB, you can add to this Austria topo and some other countries topo maps and you will not exceed 4 GB.
I don't see any reason why you would need SD card larger than 4 GB.

Maybe your starting position was not on (or near by) routable road.
