You must use Garmin reverse converter with Garmin NT maps to convert them in non NT maps to use them on old devices and to unlock them
Run the map converter ,move the All.bat and GarminUnlocker.exe inside that folder with all the maps that must be converted to img format and run the All.bat
Your maps will now be unlocked . Uninstall the maps using the add remove in Windows control panel. Once the maps are uninstalled, MapSource will find your maps.
Now you can send the map to your gps device
To split and merge maps use GMapTool

hye there,
i try to install garmin XT inside my nokia N81 but i failed to make the garmin working on my N81. Before i've already install and make the garmin work on N78, N82, N71, N95.
did i need to wait for the signal at the first time after install before searching the place

Just bought a Garmin Nuvi 255WT. Updated the maps from 2010.10 to 2010.30 unlocked. Should I bother still registering it through Garmin for the free update? I already have latest maps - but do I really need to update anything else through there site?

no if you have the last firmware you dont need, may be if you installed the unlocked IMG come back here in a couple of days to download the new one Mexico included

OK. So I dont need to install the mapsource from here either for 2010.30? No sure what mapsource even does? Where can I find out what version of mapsource I am currently running? Thanks again for all your help..
