Thread: Garmin nuvi 68LMT Delete restaurants icons

I recently became the owner of a Garmin nüvi 68LMT.

Can someone help me how to successfully delete the restaurant (knife and fork) symbols?
I've tried everything but can't get any further.

I deleted the up_ahead_restaurants_help-high.png = still there

in the file manifest.txt
0:/Help/Images/up_ahead_restaurants_help-high.png,b2f5cb93 deleted = still there

etc... I just can't get the restaurant icons off the screen!

Unless I generally switch off the PIO then the restaurant symbols are gone,
But that's a shame then I no longer have any gas stations, parking spaces or radar information
which I would have really liked to activate.

How can you delete these successfully? Especially the restaurants!

Those POI symbols are generated from the map IMG file data itself, rather than from data contained in a GPI file such as safety cam data. Therefore for the map display to not show restaurant symbols but still show others you'd have to be able to modify the map data itself. Because Garmin's proprietary NT format hasn't been completely reverse-engineered, at least publicly, i doubt you'll be successful in that sorry.
