Default DriveSmart 50/51 internal memoy partitions

Both my DriveSmart 50LMTHD and 51LMTHD now have two partitions (one FAT32, and one FAT) in their internal memory since my last map updates.
They show up as two drives in windows explorer. I would rather use smaller map and go back to the single drive partition internal memory.
How do I get rid of the newly added Partion? Are older "All" (smaller) map downgrades available? usable?
    Thanks

Map update has nothing to do with partitioning. A firmware update - can.
And those partitions are visible in ... Win 10? Are you sure that in fact it was not your OS that changed and not the device?

Do not touch those partitions, so as not to mess up something, especially since the smaller partition is FAT (it also means that it is very small in capacity)

I updated to Firmware 6.70 on the DriveSmart 51 and 5.90 on the Drivesmart 50. not sure exactly when the extra FAT partitions were created. I only noticed them after I updated to latest City Navigator Map. I am using Win 10 to see these in both File Explorer and Control Panel's Storage, Drive Partitioning app.
No big deal, I was just curious about why the extra partition was made. I read somewhere that it was due to the new map file exceeding the 4GB but I don't see evidence of that anywhere.

When the maps exceed a certain size, you only have to change the file system on the device storage, internal or external (if it supports it). You will certainly not reduce the partition, you can only increase it. Then you would set it to exFAT.

I suppose that this was done after the firmware update. Maybe that partition is reserved for system files, maybe for boot, maybe for something else ... only Garmin can give the correct answer for sure. See the list of changes in the new firmware, if they have listed it at all.

Sounds more like the two .img files that now make up North America due to it exceeding the 4Gb limit than "partitions" ? A screen shot would help.

    Solved.
    Thanks everyone for your input!
When RWFS is not hidden in Mass Storage Mode, the Read Write File System will show in Windows Explorer as a separate drive.
This has nothing to do with upgrades or maps. It does however open the door to the settings databases.
I intend on posting a method to disable Restricted Mode from Garmin 51LMTHD (Enterprise Rental Car Model) within a day or two.
    Thanks again.
