This is how it works for me on the Fenix6x pro. I sent the seller the GarminDevice.xml file.
He sent back some files to unlock the map.
Now I wanted to use the map in Edge 530

Your garmindevice.xml contains your device ID which they used to generate the .unl specific to your Fenix 6x pro watch.
