I have a Drivesmart 60 that powers up and everything seems fine except that it will not get a satellite position/lock. It's my Dad's GPS and he hadn't used it for well over a year. When he decided to try to use it, it wouldn't get a lock, so he tried to update it via Express. He had a map and firmware update available, so he installed those via Express, but the device still will not get a lock.
When the unit boots, if I go to the map, it shows its current location as Miami Beach, FL (the unit has never been to FL) and we're in Indiana. I assume this is why it won't get a lock, because it's looking for satellites that aren't overhead. A couple of times I have seen a signal from 1 or 2 satellites on the Satellite page. The time is also off by a little over 7 hours (in automatic mode), not sure if that matters or not. If I manually set it, nothing changes on the Satellite screen. If I go to the "Where I've Been" screen, the date is listed as 11/10/2020 (it's currently 11//26/2021). I haven't found anywhere to correct the date.
I decided to edit the locales.xml file and change my current location from Miami Beach, FL, to my current location in IN. The map now shows my correct location on startup, but the time and date issue still persist and, I assume, keep the unit from seeing the actual satellites overhead. I've tried a hard reset multiple times, no help. Any ideas or help appreciated!
