If that does not work then contact Garmin do not keep trying different things only to brick it.

time and date issue still persist

That should be corrected when you connect to Garmin Express and do updates.

I have many Garmin units and have never had the date and time wrong.

You say:

current location as Miami Beach, FL (the unit has never been to FL)

At one time it was there because it keeps the last location after you shut it off and do not use it till you get back home.

My wife does that all the time uses the GPS to get to destination turns it off and drive back home some 100 KM.
She did not need to use the GPS because she knew how to get back home.

A couple of weeks later:
When I turn on the Nuvi 2595 it showed in the upper right hand last know location. <----------------
I go outside and in about a minute it locks on to when the GPS is now.

it then showed in the upper right hand new location being back home. (if you want a screen shot I will post it.)

The time and date has always been correct even when the GPS has been off for weeks.

The longest time the 2595 has been off was 6 Months.
Only reason to put it back on was to do a map update.
